(Gävle Symphony orchestra)

Gävle Symfoniorkester is affiliated with the Gävle Concert Hall and is organised within the Culture and Leisure Administration in the municipality of Gävle.

The symphony orchestra has the objective of maintaining and carrying on a cultural heritage. The orchestra has regular contact with regional culture life, such as local organisers and associations, choirs, local culture schools, upper secondary art education and adult education associations.

Gävle Symfoniorkester organises many concerts in collaboration with civil society. The orchestra contributes to an active culture life for children and young people from an educational perspective.

An important element is collaboration and dialogue with Folkteatern Gävleborg and artistic education programmes in the county.

The symphony orchestra promotes artistic renewal and offers experiences with live music at the highest international level.

Gävle Symfoniorkester is important for the inhabitants of the entire county and has a regular presence in the county’s three main nodes Gävle, Bollnäs and Hudiksvall. Gävle Symfoniorkester performs regular guest performances in smaller venues in all of the county’s municipalities, in collaboration with Kultur Gävleborg.

The organisation strives to bridge geographical distances and facilitate travel to the main concert hall in Gävle with the aim of bringing the orchestra to people throughout the county.
