- Digital Meet up 2 march 2022
The Nordic VR-Network did meet digitaly in more than one way. This was the third time for digital meet up. Network members from Röros in Norway, Jelling in Denmark, Kvarken in Finland, Thingvellir in Iceland and Hälsingegårdar in Sweden gathered the same time as the war between Russia and Ukraine escalated. Unescos World Heritage convention started as a peace and democracy project. Today, when Ukraines people suffers the most, the guns are also pointed to the seven world heritage sites, most directed to Kiev. The network took a moment and debriefed. A new hashtag #worldheritageforpeace was published the same morning. We will use it.
The programme for this day session was as follow:
- Whats up
- Economy
- Communication
- Are we ol´ farts
- Experience in Mozilla hubs
- Next Meet up IRL - Kvarken Archipelago
- Guest lecturer Amilcar Vargas, Casa Batllo Barcelona
Whats up?
The sites informed that overall the pandemic has been a fight, but that it seems that all sites are open up and with new experiences. Jelling is working with a VR-movie where the visitors can fly out from the museum out in the open monumental space. Norway is to continue to work with the mine-experience. The experience by school kids and Röros got inspiration from the workshop in Jelling. Kvarken to did witness that the visit in Jelling got a lot of inspiration and they are continue working with the script for the eagle-experience, to set the story in a context. From Iceland, who had a battle with the hard weather this year along with the pandemic, are to continue to develop the user experience working with cellphones. And also at Hälsingegårdar the work with the VR-experience is getting closer to premiere for the interactive game.
Economy
From Hälsingegårdar (Region of Gävleborg), who administrate the economy in the project, Henrik Harrysson gave an update of the future time.
Communication
The teams have looked at the website www.regiongavleborg.se/en/Halsingegardar/nordic-world-heritage-vr-stories/nordic-world-heritage-vr-network/ And overall everyone seems that it is good that the information as well as the things we want to communicate lies there. We can use the webb as a hub for links to different experiences and articles from the teems. Please feel free to share by sending in links etc. We also agree to not use Facebook or Instagram, but instead use a hashtag when we publish from each teem-members socialmedia #worldheritageVR. We also decided to create a dataprotect form for publishing photos from our meet ups.
Are we ol´ farts
After a short discussion about if we need and should use youth - we state that the project is not only for youth but a way to availability – although youth are one group of many.
Experience in Mozilla hubs
We dived in to the digital world with Mozilla hubs, were we met Josephine Rydberg who welcomed us all as avatars in different shapes. Some of us did have difficults to get in to the hub, and some of us did not have access to helmets so it was a motley gang who joined the “mozilla party” although some of us managed to dance…
Really interesting discussion afterwards on what kind of technical aids we need to go further.
Next Meet up IRL - Kvarken Archipelago
Next may 2 – 4 we will meet in Kvarken Archipelago. To Vasa you can go by boat or by flight. The meeting will be started in the afternoon the 2th may and we will leave on the 4th. A detailed programme will be coming up. We are all looking forward to see each other IRL in Finland!
Guest lecturer Amilcar Vargas, Casa Batllo Barcelona
One object of the Worlds Heritage site “The work of Antoni Gaudi” in Barcelona is Casa Batllo. Amilcar Vargas has been the creator of “building up” Casa Batllo digitally. An amazing work in an outstanding building wich now is avaible for visitors in Gaudi Dome and Gaudi Cube and with VR-tablets as well as the authentic “casa”. We would have liked to have Amilcar in two hours instead of 30 minutes. Allthough it was an impressive lecture. Thank you Amilcar!
