The World Heritage Council is a coordinating body responsible for preserving the values of the World Heritage Sites and achieving the goals of the administrative plan.
The World Heritage Council is to work on issues concerning the four prioritized areas in the administrative plan: care and preservation, knowledge development, public work, and participation and collaboration. The World Heritage Council is responsible for annual follow-up of World Heritage Site administration, as well as reporting to the Swedish National Heritage Board and UNESCO.
The World Heritage Council includes the following parties and persons:
The chair is the governor of Gävleborg County.
The other members represent:
– The Bommars, Bortom Åa, Kristofers, Gästgivars, Pallars, Jon-Lars and Erik-Anders World Heritage Farmhouses
– Bollnäs, Ljusdal, Ovanåker, Söderhamn, Hudiksvall, and Nordanstig Municipalities
– The Gävleborg County Administrative Board
– Region Gävleborg
– The County Museum of Gävleborg
– Hälsinglands Museum
– Gävle University College
The secretary and convener is the World Heritage Site Coordinator on the Gävleborg County Administrative Board.
