The Regional Development Council of Gävleborg

We were founded in 2007 by the ten municipalities in the region as well as the County Council. The organisation is run by an assembly and a regional director, and is situated in the regional capital city Gävle.

Our work:

• Develop and implement plans for regional development regarding
-Infrastructure
-Economic- and business development
-Education, competence development and labour supply

• Funding, including EU funds, for projects supporting regional development

• Health and social care research and development

• Project management

• Energy and climate strategy

• Technical aids for the physically challenged

In Gävleborg region we make it possible. We find creative ideas and collaborate to solve problems. A result oriented and prestigeless leadership unite Gävleborg and form a sustainable society.

Working internationally
The three Regional Development Councils of Central Sweden; Örebro Region, Dalarna Region and Gävleborg Region share a common representation office in Brussels, Belgium. This office, called Central Sweden Brussels, make the needs of our regions visible to the politicians of EU. They follow debates and areas of interest to us, give counselling to projects, arrange for education and study visits for Swedish politicians and officials, as well as market Central Sweden.

To benefit from the possibilities this office presents, and to develop the international collaboration, Gävleborg Region has a network of EU-coordinators in provinces, county administrative boards and county councils and other participating organisations. Central Sweden Brussels participates regularly in network meetings.
